PGV a Sponsor of Honolulu-based World Zero Emissions Congress
Puna Geothermal Venture’s Mike Kaleikini will be a speaker at the World Congress on Zero Emissions Initiatives (ZERI), Sept. 13-17, at the Hawaii Convention Center. PGV is a sponsor of this international event, which is expected to attract world experts and entrepreneurs.
Professor Gunter Pauli, founder of ZERI and author of the book, “The Blue Economy” will participate.
“Our challenge today is to respond to the basic needs of all with what we have, to build upon indigenous cultures as in Hawaii, learning from the ancient systems of the past, while drawing upon concrete innovations from around the world,” Pauli said.
There will be case studies and papers, and an exhibition hall of innovations in energy, food, health, housing, transportation, water and waste.
The meeting aims for “zero waste” and will serve Hawaii-grown food. Tours of neighbor island sites, including the Big Island’s Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority, are options.
Again, Hawaii proves to be a natural gathering place for ideas and experiences about green initiatives.
The meeting is an outgrowth of the Zero Waste Conference of 2008, hosted by the Hawaii Island Economic Development Board and Environmental Protection Agency.
